MTT's going well

In order to get ready for SCOOP and the WSOP this summer, I've been playing between two to four MTT's a day (five days a week) to get some practice in. The usual tourneys that I play are the $5 PL and NL rebuy, $22 PL, and another other tourney that I see. I've final tabled the $5 NL rebuy 3 days in a row (2nd, 7th, and 9th, respectively) so that has definitely helped the bankroll slightly, in addition to providing a nice change of pace from grinding 24 tables of cash all day.

Cash games have also improved. The no limit games have been very swingy with 20 BBs, and I got my ass handed to me a .25/.5 PL today- played bad, ran worse. But my EV and profit have both been good this month, so I can't complain.

I'm at 196k VPPs and change for the year. I'll be clearing the 200k VPP bonus tomorrow for $2,600. Goal is SNE by 12/1.

Sorry about the Delay

Sorry about the lack of blogging. Been busy lately, but still no excuse why I can't take five minutes out to blog. I'm currently at 177k VPP's ( which is slightly behind SNE pace, but I'm catching up to the SNE pace real quickly).

I've come to realization that getting SNE playing my current limits (.25/.50 - 1/2, mostly full ring with some 6 max mixed in) is definitely possible, getting 1.25 million VPP's would be downright suicidal, unless of course I decide to move back up in limits real soon.

My current goal is to average 24,000 VPP's week. I want to get 4,300 VPP's Monday - Friday and 2,500 VPP's over the weekend. If I stick to this schedule I should be able to get to SNE by November and have a relaxing last 5 - 6 weeks of the year.

On the poker front, things are going well. I've been short-stacking (20 bb's) at the NL tables the last two weeks and I've been plus ev as well as being plus money so that's all good. In addition, my goal is to play between five to ten tournaments a week to get in shape for the SCOOP Hi Lo MTT's and obviously the the WSOP PL Hi Lo events ($1,500 and $5,000). Hopefully with good enough results in the SCOOP, I can sell some of my action for the WSOP events.

The bankroll is almost getting back to where it was at the beginning of the year. This Friday I'm going to have enough FPP's (250,000) to purchase the $4,000 bonus and early next week I will pass the 200,000 VPP mark, meaning I can purchase the $2,6000 bonus for 1 FPP. Last year I didn't pass the 200,000 VPP mark til August 2nd (I ended the year with 500,000 VPP's).

I'll try to keep this thing updated at least twice a week from now til when I get SNE.

Good Day (Finally)

I've played this tourney the past 3 days but was only in for $46.50 total, so I can't complain about my ROI.

Some of the big hands:

I'm pretty lucky

This helped

Great play

Weeeeeee

Cash games have been shitty this week (points wise) but profitable for once. Well, not that profitable... but I haven't been losing my ass for a change.

Progress meter is updated for you, Strikr.

I'm emo

Ok, I'm emo.

I'm back on the SNE chase.

Wife was able to block omaha manager from me so that's good news (I don't use HUD so it's all good).

Games have been slow, lately but trying to at least grind at 2,750 vpps a day until they pick up again.

Chase is over

Looks like its time to give up the chase for supernova elite. I have lost over 30% of my roll this year and have run significantly under ev. I am definitely not playing my best this month (right around break-even poker), but I am down $5,000 and the month is barely 10 days old. My goal to get supernova elite definitely cost me a ton of money and killed my desire to play poker.

When I started the year, I enjoyed grinding out the 5k VPP or more days, but now I dont even want to grind out 2k VPP days. If this is my attitude 10% of the way to SNE, I think its safe to say I don't have the mindset to make it all the way.

I will spend the extra time I have now looking at getting a real job and / or applying to graduate school.

Week 5 Recap / Week 6 Goals

Week 5 Recap
  • Total VPPs Earned: 24,678.74
  • Hours Played: 52.15
  • Hands Played: 65,650
  • VPPs/Hour: 473.2
  • VPPs/Hand: 0.376
  • VPPs Earned YTD: 101,896.12

I hate poker this year. I don't expect to win every flip, but it would be nice to win hands like this and this occasionally.

I hit 100k VPPs this week and secured my Supernova status through February 2012. That's not much of an accomplishment though. I'm pretty sure I could teach a monkey to get Supernova. Maybe I'll make that my hobby if I continue to run like shit and bust my roll.

Week 6 Goals
  • 27k VPPs
  • Win a hand against AngryFish. That's going to be a lot harder than the 27k VPPs.
  • Break even, which means I'll need an EV of at least $3k the way I've been running.

Down and back

Well, no tilt goal = fail for the week. I started off the week by running like shit on Monday. By the end of the day my EV wasn't good but my losses were far worse. I considered just doing a 180-day ban, cashing out the roll, and playing video games for 6 months while looking for a shit job, but obviously got over that idea quickly and am back to grinding. Since then I've made back the losses and then some.

I made an agreement with MrClkClkDirk that anytime one of us whines at the tables we owe the person who catches us $5, the exception being that we can berate each other. So, be sure to call us out when you see us bitching or watch our tables all day waiting for one of us to crack if you're really desperate to boost your roll.

I've been bad about playing nights again this week, and don't think I'm gonna improve on that tonight since I'm going out to watch the UCLA game.
